The AGIP separation plant at Brass.

This is me looking totally dejected (with good reason).
We were asked if we could do AGIP a favour - "it would only take half a day" - to survey in a radio beacon on the beach at their plant at Brass. They laid on a chopper and Al Smailes and myself were airlifted with all our gear to Brass. Unfortunately there was a band of jungle between the plant (where the survey control was located) and the beach. It took us four days and we hadn't even packed a toothbrush! This picture was probably taken on day three.

It would have taken longer but whilst on the beach we saw one of the plant lighting towers through the trees. We used this as an intermediate station. These pictures show Al up the tower. I am very grateful to Al for being the one who occupied this station because I suffer from vertigo and there was no way I was going up there!

We finally got back to the survey houseboat (we were on fly camp) four days later and no-one had realised we were missing!
