A Snakecharmer and dancer in the bar, and right, Bob Ford and Ralph Bridle.
We made a trip to SSL Party 099 who were also working for Shell on the same project.
Left to right: Aidan Ward, Shaun McDermott (standing), Mike McElhenney, Chris Cadogan, Mike Davis, Ken Stevens, Myself, Paul Jeffs, Ralph Bridle and Tim Hargreaves.
The camp move from the Punjab (Shell) to Baluchistan (BP) took 4 days and we all drove something or other. Our route took us across the Sukkur barrage, built by the British, and we then spent the night in Sukkur. I have been to Sukkur recently and a new bridge has been built just to the south of the barrage. The picture on the left was taken from the top of a minaret, attached to a mosque. The door-keeper really didn't want to let us go up but eventually agreed as long as we didn't take any photographs! We also wandered around the town and picked up quite a following.
This picture was taken in Sukkur and if you count the legs you'll find there's 5 people on this moped.
This is a great picture and marks the changeover from Shell Vibroseis to BP Drilling/dynamite; 098 to 177. Note the presence of both Vibs and Rigs. The picture was taken by Tony Cheshire from the top of another rig. The party chief at this time (in the centre) was Boyo (Geoff Davies). Also in this picture, not previously mentioned, are Scipio Brook and John Halliday.
The Bolan Weir on the Bolan River. We used to swim here.
